Safe, healthy tips to help you lose weight and KEEP IT OFF!

Staying fit and healthy is important at any time– and especially now, with health and wellness being so crucial to the betterment of our society. Still, when on lockdown, it is all to easy to fall into bad habits, be it a sedentary lifestyle, a poor diet, or some combination of the two.

Though times are hard, falling into these habits will only make things harder for you. There are six easy things everyone can do to stay fit and stay healthy, all while staying safe at home.

Calorie count

Since you may not be able to get in the same intensity workout that you are used to, calorie counting is a great resource for losing, or maintaining, one’s weight. Be conscious of your calories in versus calories out and make educated decisions about whether or not you’re eating because you’re hungry, or eating because you’re bored. Some calorie counting apps break down the nutritional values of what you’re eating, so you know for sure that you are consuming calories that will benefit, not harm

Drink water

Staying hydrated is key to staying healthy, and it is zero calories. Increasing the amount of water you drink in a day fills you up so you eat smaller portions. It also has been proven to increase the amount of calories burned at rest.

Try indoor exercises

There are a number of things you can do to work up a sweat while cooped up indoors. You can place a chair in front of a television and do stair stepping. You can move furniture aside and jump rope. You can do a number of body weight exercises, such as sit-ups, jumping jacks, push ups, planks, and so much more

Follow an online exercise program

For many people who attended the gym, took an exercise class, or had a trainer, figuring out a exercise program is difficult. There are DVDs and workout programs to subscribe to in order to get a full body workout, but there are also a lot of great YouTube channels dedicated to providing you any number of workouts, and they are totally free.

Regularly wash your hands

While staying fit will benefit your health, there are some key things you need to do to keep healthy. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds. This means the backs of your hands, your palms, your knuckles, and in between your finger. If you interact with someone and, for some reason, cannot wash your hand, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to remove any potential germs and viruses.

Practice social distancing

If you must be around others, be it at the store or at work if you are an essential worker, make sure you keep six feet between yourself and others. This distance helps you avoid the droplets sprayed by someone if they cough or sneeze that could potentially carry the virus and get you, and your loved ones, sick.

The takeaway of this page is simple: Don’t forget to eat well. Continue treating your body right. Partake in safe health practices. If we all work together, but at a distance, we will get through this.
